Joyce is praised as one of Irelands best writers, but I found this a let down. Nothing seems to happen in any of the stories. They are comprised of people who know little about, who do little and then the story ends at an almost random point. The early stories were particularly poor and boring. I didn't feel any attachment to any of the characters. There are one or two good moments, but most of it is empty space filler

Read in HS. Re-read again after stumbling across it in a moving box. Definitely not as palatable/intriguing as I remembered. A dreary read.
