I am a full grown adult and I genuinely enjoy re-visiting Goosebumps books. They're not great literature and they're definitely written for kids, but they make for really entertaining dinner reading, okay? R. L. Stine's twists are predictable, but that's what makes them fun. Also, I'm a sucker for a good theme park book (Full Tilt is a much better haunted theme park book, though, and now I wish I had a copy to re-read...)

This is from the classic series, but it is the general background to what would one day become the HorrorLand series. Another I grabbed the audio of for a long trip with my fiancée.
The Morris family is lost, they can’t seem to find the amusement park they are looking for. If only they hadn’t forgotten the map! After a bit of aimless driving they decide to stop…that’s when they see the sign for Horrorland. The kids are so tired of the car they beg to give it a shot. Maybe they’ll live to regret it!
I love the twist of this one and the use of real monsters in the park. It definitely makes this one more fantasy than some of the others, and it’s a lot of fun.
Personally a 3/5* for me. Narration was a tiny bit irksome.

This was my favorite Goosebumps as a kid so I figured I'd give it a reread. Boy is it goofy. A family finds themselves stranded at a horror themed amusement park that turns out to be staffed with actual monsters. Almost every single one of the brief chapters ends with a cliffhanger that's immediately resolved with a "lol jk" in the first paragraph of the next chapter. Still, there's some moderate peril and spookiness for a kid's book. I think my favorite part was when they first got to the park, R. L. Stine could just have written that their car breaks down, but no, he has the car explode into a million pieces for no real reason. Classy.
