*I received this book as a giveaway and as such tried to read it as soon as I was able so I could leave a review. Though I know a review is not mandatory for giveaways, it is only fair.*

This isn't my normal kind of genre, but when I read the summary while looking through Giveaways one day I decided it sounded like it could be interesting.
The plot started out strong, and I kept reading with the knowledge that there had to be something interesting coming at some point.
I believe it took a bit long to get to the action and often times it would be drawn out and boring. This is the first book of the series, so a lot of background needed to be put out there, but sometimes there was too much of it and not enough action.

The resolution seemed a bit lackluster and left me wanting more, but I hold out anticipation that something else in another book will really draw it all together for me.

I received The Darkest Corner in return for an honest review from the publisher.

Tess had returned to her hometown as a mortician with the anticipation of taking over the local practice but Even Winters sweeps in buying it out from under her. However, she does want to keep her on but she revamped the property and has hired her employees. It's been two years and she now had 5 employees all men who are all well build attractive men, that work as her Gravediggers.

The men are more than just Gravediggers they work for an elite anti-terrorist group that even the president doesn't know about. While on a mission to pick up a new recruit they encounter a house robbery and being that they are good guys they have to step in and save the day but catch some attention from the local police. When they aren't home before Tess wakes up with her van she starts to question who they really are, getting pulled into a dark web of lies, sexy kisses and men willing to risk their lives to save the world.

I love Tess she's so adorable even though she spends her time talking to herself and with dead bodies. Her mother would make me crazy, but I'm glad that she has her best friend Miller when she needs her. I wasn't sure about the Gravediggers but the more we learned about Deacon you can't help loving his tragic back story. He's perfect for her even if she doesn't see it herself.

I've had this one on my wishlist and when it showed up at my door I couldn't wait to dive right in. I honestly didn't know what to expect going into The Darkest Corner so it was a pleasant surprise because I loved it. I think the concept for the Gravediggers is unique and exciting giving them a second chance at life after their prior lives ended. I love all the character and found it easy to connect with Tess she's just a breath of fresh air. I love the steamy sweet chemistry between her and Deacon they just work well together even if he may have been dead at one time. This is my first book by the author but I'm hooked on her beautiful writing style and captivating story telling. I can't wait to dive into the next book and see who's going to get a happy ever after next. Highly recommend The Darkest Corner it's one of the best books I've read this year. Love it!!!!

I have been wanting to read this series, and for some reason thought I had requested it on NG (and I am cleaning up some of my older books I never got to as I got greedy). I didn't have it requested, lol. but finished the series anyway. I don't think Hart is the author for me, and the story line wasn't that engaging. (This is a series review - rather than individual as they are the exact same - Hero and Heroine don't like one another but find each other hot...there is something they must overcome together and now they are married and will be having kids. The second book I rated one star more as it did remind me a little of the movie Romancing the Stone - which I LOVE.)

Okay book. I liked bits and pieces of it. But it was not an great book and frankly , i’m a bit disappointed. I have read like 13 books by Liliana Hart and for the most part I have really liked them. She writes characters who are fun, quirky and really lovable and you cant not love the male heroes. They are awesome. But there is nothing of that in this one.

Still liked the idea though.

Wow. This book was a great way to start a The Gravedigger Series. I thoroughly enjoyed being introduced to all the characters. I loved Tess and Deacon. I can't wait to read about all the other guys and Miller, of course.

Solid 3.5
Liked the set up, enjoyed tha characters, loved the town and the way heroine is pulled into the story
Loved Tess and her job as a mortician, unusual, but author makes sure you connect with her and Deacon
One negative is that the end felt a little rushed
Can't wait for the next one

This book started off strong and had a good premise. But then it kinda just stalled and really didn;t live up to it's promise.

I actually was kinda bored after a while and started skimming.

And I rather disliked a few of the characters... such as Tess' narcissistic thieving mother that everyone treated as if she were a just an eccentric 'character' than the total awful creature she was. And then there was the Dragon lady Boss Eve. Very weird dynamic there and she was a total turn off.

So it was ok, but put me off from reading the rest.

3.5 star read for me. I switched between the audiobook and ebook and enjoyed the narrators. This book was entertaining and not overly angsty. I'm looking forward to starting the next book in this series.

This is a good start for Liliana Hart's Gravediggers series. The prologue was incredibly intense, it reeled me in from the first page! After that, the story dragged a little as we get introduced to Tess, Deacon and the rest of the Gravediggers (it's a tad cheesy but I still loved the name of this group!). Once the slow burn between Tess and Deacon ignites, the action does too! I loved Tess' character, she was quirky, feisty and her witty banter had me laughing out loud a couple of times. Deacon was, of course, a hot, dark, handsome male who speaks Russian! (I just love a multilingual alpha!) The chemistry between these two is pretty explosive and I enjoyed the back and forth between the two. I also felt that the plot was unique, the concept of "heroes" coming back from the "dead" in order to save the world. How cool is that?? It just seemed that there was a bit too much background information and not enough suspense/action. Overall, I enjoyed the story and I think the series has a lot of potential! Told from dual POVs with a happy ending. I received, read and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
