The 3 short love stories were cute. I liked the first 2 more than the last one.

description

"The Fortune Café, situated in the middle of this charming collection of shops and cafés on Tangerine Street, is a Chinese restaurant unlike any other because, well, to be honest, the fortunes found in the cookies all come true…"

I'm still smiling right now as I write my review. This is such a 'feel-good' book. Just what I'm looking for.

To be honest, I didn't think I'll like this at first. I'm not a fan of novellas. This is my first, actually. But I was not disappointed. At all. This made me feel all beautiful inside.

What's so great about this was all of the stories were realistic. And even though it was a novella, nothing was rushed. The pacing was perfect. The characters were introduced enough to know and connect to them. Also the settings were described wonderfully.

Let me just share my thoughts about the three stories.

MIS-FORTUNE:
"Look around, Love is trying to catch you."
The Funniest.

Emma. Or should I say, The Unbeliever? The woman who avoided the fortune cookies as much as she can. Y'know I'm such a sucker of 'old flames rekindling'. I adored Emma so much. She was a little stubborn but I really get where she's coming from. Thank goodness Harrison is much stubborn than her. He really pursued Emma. I really enjoyed reading this one.

LOVE, NOT LUCK:
"True Love is for the brave, not the Lucky"
The most realistic.

This one made me sad. Because I know this kind of things really happen in real life. I love how the author handled the situation. Very proper and romantic.

TAKEOUT:
"Do the thing you fear and Love is certain"
My favorite.

This one's a little complicated. That's why I loved it so much. Out of all the women, Stella was the most gutsy. And I completely love her.

All in all, The Fortune Cafe is a very enjoyable read. It will leave you with a big smile on your face.

The Fortune Cafe (A Tangerine Street Romance, #1) consists of three contemporary romance novellas by three authors who were new to me. They all are inter-connected through a magical restaurant/cafe where the fortunes seem to come true.
The premise is interesting, but the execution of the stories was not to my taste. The stories seemed a little disjointed to me, and I did not enjoy them very much.

Love these kind of books -- a set of short stories with characters whose lives intertwine a little between the stories. Make the stories sweet, fun romances by some of my favorite authors and it's sure to be one of my favorites!

Cute short stories collection. The first one is a little awkwardly paced, rushing towards an ending that necessitates brushing off the conflicts under the rug and hoping no-one notices the lump, but at least it was sweet. And the other two were better paced and adorable as well. An easy, feel-good read.

***I received a copy of this from one of the authors in exchange for my honest review.***

I thoroughly enjoyed this 3-part story. While the 3 stories are separate, a few of the characters overlap just slightly and the cafe with it's first magic fortune for each person is the main thing that ties them together. I enjoyed the characters in each story and going with them on their journey to overcome their own individual struggles and find happiness at the same time. Great series, fun concept. I can't wait to read more of this series!

The Fortune Cafe is a really cute book with three mini love stories in it. The book is divided into three different parts, and they are each different stories but all of the characters revolve around this one Chinese restaurant where the fortune cookies are rumored to be magic. And each of the stories has a cameo of who the next main character will be. I really liked seeing how the stories lightly overlapped like that. Once I saw who the second story was about and I remembered her from the first one, I kept reading the second story trying to guess who the third story would feature. It was really fun. It kind of reminded me of a Love, Actually type of movie with a bunch of different mini storylines going on and sometimes they cross over with other ones.

Emma, Lucy and Stella are the three ladies in The Fortune Cafe. I think I liked Emma's story the best. Hers was about a guy that had a crush on her in high school suddenly coming back into her life. It was so cute. I also really liked the luck theme going through "Lucky" Lucy's story. The stories are not pure fluff though. They each have their own unique hardships going on. One of the three girls starts out engaged and gets dumped by her jerk of a fiance. And another one has the stress of caring for her abusive and mentally ill mother. The stories each felt like glimpses into the real lives of these women.

You can't help but root for their happy endings. I really enjoyed The Fortune Cafe. It is a feel good book that is sure to put a smile on your face. Emma Stella and Lucky Lucy are each great characters and any one of them can easily turn out to be your favorite. This book made me want to go out and get some fortune cookies to see what my fortunes would be. The Fortune Cafe is feel good fun that I think fans of young adult and adult contemporaries will easily enjoy.
