I am a bit of a scaredy cat and don't normally read scary things, but I have been trying to branch out more and this was one of the books I read to do so. And man was this book unsettling! A wilderness adventure trip gone terribly, terribly wrong, every moment lead up to the fateful conclusion. There were parts that shocked and terrified me, parts where my blood ran cold, parts that made me gasp out loud. The writing was phenomenal, the descriptions were great, every detail added to the unsettling tone of the story. I am disappointed that the story wasn't completely wrapped up by the end, but knowing there are more installments secured a five star reading for me. I can't wait until I can read them and get the rest of this story!
