This was my first foray into YA Sci-Fi/Fantasy, and I can honestly say this was an exhilarating read! I was engaged the entire time, though I did struggle to keep some of the people and world concepts straight in the early portion of the story; but I imagine that's to be expected in such an unfamiliar, to me, genre. This plot had me holding my breath a few times, and I found the writing and telling inventive and clever. I'm excited that the next book in the series will be released soon, as that ending really sets you up for the next in the series.
