Definitely enjoyed the reread, picked up on a lot of things that I've missed the first time.
About as good as their Fellowship production (good but not great, and still better than the NPR effort). The eyeroll-worthy performance of Gollum really pushed my patience. They get further into Return of the King than I would have expected.
This BBC series stays closer to the books than the New Line movies do.

More like 3.5. I liked it fine, but not as good as the first. I know that everyone says this, but this one just dragged a bit too much for me. It's starting to feel like Hobbit should have been told in two books and Lord of the Rings should have been told in two books. I guess I'll see after I finish the next one.

Favorite LOTR book! Sam is a babe!
Fantastic as always. I think I've listened to this... at least 6 or 7 times now? Big time nostalgia back to when I was in middle school. I'd routinely binge these BBC dramatized audiobooks and do puzzles/knitting. 5/5
Love how many of the songs stay in this version... it's the one thing the movies could have improved on.

Beyond brilliant.
There are so many things I could say but just haven't got the time nor the ability to put them into a sentence. I adore this books. It feels like a friend. The descriptive nature. The dialouge of characters is just *chefs kiss* now I understand the hype and love for the world Tolkien has created.
When reading yoy also see the influence he has had over others writing, whether it's in names places or flat out mirroring. George R R marten must be a huge fan becuase yoy can see elements of this within his works. I cant believe I put off reading this for so long. I am more then excited to read the final installment
