Bloody brilliant book. Highly recommended. Sent shivers down my spine thoroughly enjoyed this sequel and can't wait to read the next. You have to read it to know.

Lisbeth Salander is an astonishing character and the field of loyalty she accomplishes through the friendships she establishes really does give the book a feeling of solidarity.

"Kalle F*cking Blomkvist"

Who hasn't read this book and memorized that line? This thriller is different than the previous in the series, [b:The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo|2429135|The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1)|Stieg Larsson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1327868566l/2429135._SX50_.jpg|1708725], which unravels more like a traditional mystery novel. Rather, this book is a parallel thriller, following the actions of Mikael and the police force in one narrative, with Lisbeth and the criminal underworld in the other.

I've read some reviews that highlight the obvious allusions to Swedish writer [a:Astrid Lindgren|410653|Astrid Lindgren|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1194544214p2/410653.jpg]'s characters, with Mikael being a the stated analogy of detective whiz kid Kalle, and Lisbeth being similar to the carefree/no rules Pippi Longstocking. Both seem to be grown-up versions of these characters, but nothing else from the plot directly supports this.

If you're already past the first book, and possibly past this one, you'll likely keeping going. This book serves as a great second act to the trilogy and it makes me want to learn what happens next.

This really was an excellent book. The ending is such a cliffhanger and really sets up the 3rd book nicely.
The second instalment in the millennium series really allowed the reader to get to know more about Lisbeth.
I also loved the addition of Fermat and the mathematical aspect of the book.
Really excellent. My only complaint was that the opening chapters were too long and slow and weren't really that relevant to the story in the grand scheme of things.

I liked this one better than the first.

One thing about Stieg Larsson's books is that they are easy to read and they are interesting enough to keep my attention till the end of the story...even though this book is over 700 pages it is a quick read.

I find the story of Salander an interesting story, but I feel it goes just a bit over the top in one bad event after the other, Stieg Larsson is not a subtle writer, and everything is right in your face.

Salander hates all men who hate women and she is a character with a disturbed history due to a dysfunctional family and a tragic life of government dysfunctional care and then one abuse sexual and physical after the other.

The book just seems so over the top in sexual violence and injustice of the whole legal system and pretty much everyone that should be good is bad and those that are bad are bad and everyone else is in between.

Salander is held responsible for three deaths...two reporters who are writing about sex trafficking are murdered in their home and Salander's guardian is found dead on the same night, the police suspect Salander and then the hunt begins to find her. It is a long hunt and it encompasses the whole book.

Knowing that Stieg Larsson witnessed a gang rape at the age of fifteen and he did not intervene in any matter makes this book easier to comprehend...you can definitely feel the author's anguish from this past event in his life throughout the entire book. Also all the injustices in the book are based on actual crimes...so these facts do make the book more interesting to read.

I just found the book too over the top with the system that is set up to help people is actually abusing people...probably true in some cases, but hopefully not as evident as the book portrays it.

The book does not end in a satisfying way, the third book carries on right where this one ends...I need a break before I read the third, just like I needed a break after the first one...they are just a little too over the top for my taste.

While I really enjoyed the first installment of this trilogy by Stieg Larsson, I was somewhat disappointed by "The Girl Who Played with Fire." It just wasn't as gripping or interesting as the first book.

This book focuses on Lisbeth Salander, framing a mystery around everything that makes her tick. Unfortunately, it took forever for the book to get going... (so many lists in the beginning.... Here is what Lisbeth bought at the grocery store, here is what she bought at IKEA... ugh!) Once the story started picking up steam the book got more interesting, but the major reveal was pretty obvious so it didn't half as long to put the puzzle pieces together as it did for all the characters.

I will probably read the third book in the series just because it's the last one... I'm not super excited about it.

[author:Stieg Larsson|706255] is a very interesting author. Even though I don't have much interest in journalism and politics I found an epub version of [book:The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo|2732977] and tried to read it. At first, it was boring but after the first chapter, I liked it and bought the trilogy.
This book has a reference to its prequel and if you are planning to read this trilogy I recommend you not to skip the first book. [author:Stieg Larsson|706255]'s storytelling is very different and interesting. He likes us to know what happens to each character in detail. Each paragraph narrates the story about what each character are doing and ends with a cliffhanger which will make you keep reading the book till the end. This book has some graphical descriptions of rape and violence so if you are faint hearted, better stay away from this book. When the story is taking a very different turn, you are curious to know what happens next, but the author keeps telling about other insignificant incidents which might make you angry sometimes.
I never thought I will get know about Fermat's last theorem from this book. If anybody is reading this review please tell me what Salander was talking about that theorem at the end (at the end of chapter 30 to be exact). She laughs because of the revelation she has about the solution of the theorem and I did not understand that.
Overall I give 4.5 stars for this amazing book.

Second book in the series. Can't wait to start the third one!

I am forever obsessed with this series! Lisbeth is my ultimate "heroine", and Larsson's writing style is incredible; it's fast-paced but he is still able to pay close attention to details. Of the series, this is definitely the most action-packed. It is also where as a reader you get to know Lisbeth on a whole different level. She became a real person for me, through discovering everything that made her who she is.
