I must say, I'm usually not a big fan of stories starting with a prologue, but I have to admit this book grabbed me right from the beginning.
Elma, heir to the throne of Rothen, raised by her aunts in Mekya, is forced to return to a cold land that doesn't feel like hers after her mother's death. Raised as the future queen, she decides to embark on a peace mission after the king's death to seek help from neighboring countries. However, during the journey, the carriage is attacked, and Elma narrowly escapes an attempted murder, managing to capture the assassin and bring him to the palace for interrogation.
Rune, her enemy by birth, turns out to be the only honest person in the kingdom, even in his hatred. After another assassination attempt and doubts about the loyalty of her nobles, Elma solidifies Rune as her bodyguard, and from there, hatred transforms into respect and then into attraction.
It is perfect for the fan of from blood and Ash, with heroine with list for blood and a hero who is more
I loved Elma's journey from a princess without a place in her realm to a queen, and Rune is a breath of fresh air with his straightforwardness and the spice is reaaaally good

This was very well written and had the best, true, enemies to lovers trope (assassin sent to kill her). A few twists and turns I didn’t see coming. I certainly enjoyed it. Quite underrated I’d say.

This started off well and I got to 23%, but it was just getting a bit too depressing for me. I think I would have really enjoyed it if it got moving a bit quicker, but Elma is so depressed and it's just a lot of her depressed monologue. I do like the idea, and I liked the world (as much as we had seen so far) and honestly, if I wasn't struggling myself at this time I might have enjoyed it more. There is intrigue and tension and a sense of danger throughout so far.

If it makes you feel any better, your Majesty, I am nothing if not yours.
A reluctant queen forced to wear the frost court crown too early. A ruthless assassin sent to kill the king but has to settle for the daughter.
Don't I? What do you think I see when I look at you? Other than a pincushion for my

- Likes: I liked this one better than Thrum! I saw it advertised as a love interest that was a blend of Astarion and Fenris. I'm not sure I would have made those connections, but I was interesting in him. And I ended up reading this book in one sitting, even though I didn't plan to!
- Dislikes: I found our female protagonist a bit annoying, at times, but nothing completely detrimental!
The ending read like the first book in a series that ends on a cliffhanger and you'll find out what happens next in the next book.............but there is no next book. Just a short epilogue, that was deeply dissatisfying. The book ended at the climax. I kept looking at the amount of time left and wondering how on earth the author was going to bring this standalone to a satisfying conclusion........spoiler alert: She didn't. This story needed more than one book.

A book to melt any heart of ice ❄️ One of those books that keeps you invested from the prologue, and you know then it would find a way to your heart and mind.
This is a standalone novel, part one in a romantasy duology. The plot follows Elma on her way to becoming a queen, through many trials and tribulations. Number one, an assassin. But, not just any assassin, as you will see.
In this book we have an FMC who is cold, lonely, even cruel at times and a witty, sarcastic MMC, not like many others in this type of genre.
I was so grateful to be chosen as one of the ARC readers for The Frost Queen's Blade as I have now found a new author whose work I truly enjoy.

I loved this book so much. After reading Thrum in October and falling in love with the authors way of world building, I knew I had to read more. And this fantasy/romance genre is my usual comfort read so I was hooked from the beginning. I related to the FMC on such a deep level that her inner monologs between 0-50% made me super emotional and oooomg the MMC is Astarion-vibes level perfection. The pacing started to lose me around the 60-80% mark but I enjoyed the ending overall and can't wait to read more by this author! The spice was great the slow burn was great... loved this!
