I'm personally not a big fan of time skips, and this book goes back and forth faster than a tennis match. Also, I'm having a hard time liking any of the characters.

The storyline unfolds in an array of intricacies, with multifaceted characters, each bearing the weight associated with their broken pasts, fervently desperate for restoration and renewal within this second chance they have of life.

As I had to hand this book to the library momentarily, my journey through it was a matter of patience and thought. Nonetheless, the momentary break only deepened my appreciation. V.E. Schwab, a skilled writer, creates characters so exquisitely flawed that their warted personalities glint with insanity and stillness, creating an intriguing yet tense turn of events.

Reread 22/08/23:
My rating still stands, this book is the definition of what a five star read is to me: a feeling.

———————-———————-———————-—

Victor was the perfect anti-hero, I loved to follow him and his thoughts; even though he lacked empathy. Eli was in the same way the perfect villain/hero? I felt a burning rage towards him and hoped that Victor would succeed, no matter if Victor was the villain or not.

I really enjoyed the multiple POV's, especially Sydney's. The ways the different characters were intertwined amplified the motivation of all characters, in my opinion. Mitch and Dol was definitely two of my favorite characters, I want to keep them safe with all my heart.

this is one of my favorite books i’ve read this year. the author’s writing style draws you in and makes you flip through the pages without even knowing. the pacing was incredible because I was on the edge of my seat for the entire book. the characters were complex, interesting - but most importantly, crazy. the world building and her tone was dark and macabre, which made it all the more alluring. I will definitely be reading her other books simply because I fell in love with her writing.
