I don’t think Liz could write a story that I wouldn’t thoroughly enjoy. I adopt this book and these characters. They’ll always have a special place in my heart. I’ll reread this series forever. 5 stars.

RIO DELUCA THE MAN THAT YOU ARE.
I have known since I first read Persuasion by Jane Austen that I am an absolute unhinged fool for a second chance romance. Controversial, but I think its my favourite romance trope. I don't even really know what it is, the yearning, the loss and nostalgia, the big feelings? Idk but I will eat it up every. single. time.
Hallie is an arty Cool Girl who is trying to have her big break in the interior design world by unleashing her own flavour of luxe dopamine decorating to expensive new builds in the Chicago suburbs. While out on the world's worst date, she ends up front row at a hockey match where her hated ex/first love/dream boy Rio Deluca is playing. Rio and Hallie met when they became neighbours as children and wouldn't you know it, by a twist of fate only possible in the world of romance novels, Hallie's new place is - you guessed it - next door to Rio. Oh, and he just accidentally hired her to renovate his entire house.
This book had me feeling all the feels. You don't know the reasons that Rio and Hallie parted ways in the past until quite late on in the book, and the slow drip of information you get as it develops are torturously addictive. The way these two pine for each other but have all these complicated (and legitimate) reasons to stay apart is just delicious. I was pining for their lost youthful love as much as they were.
I shed actual human tears over this one, so obviously I highly recommend.
