This was really good. I loved the first half of the book very, very much. The author gave us so much to chew on, so much depth and angst and tension

This was a great read. I love that the MC was plus sized. There aren't enough books out there with plus sized main characters, in my opinion. The storyline was addicting, and once I started it I was so invested in Phoneix and Lennon's relationship that I couldn't stop listening. Near the ending, I was in tears. This book was fantastic!
slow-paced

Helped get me out of my reading slump but the last quarter of the book was completely unnecessary and could have been edited out

I can't even figure out where to start this review.

The Words was a fantastic book from beginning to end. I usually do not go for romance books but someone told me I HAD TO read this. I have no regrets.

There were so many parts in this book that had me tearing up. Lennon's dad was my hero for the first part of the book and the second part, I really wanted to just hug the man and never let go. Lennon really tugged on my "daddy's girl" heartstrings. Hug your parents and your family because you never know how short or how long you have with them.

Phoenix..... I honestly never hated him even when he screwed up in the beginning. He was frustrating but I never hated him. All of the issues between them could have been avoided if he had JUST COMMUNICATED WITH LENNON!!!!! She would have done ANYTHING for him and he screwed up by being a closed off idiot. I wanted to smack him so many times in part 1 and wanted to yell at them both in part 2 because they seriously just needed to TALK!

Side characters: at first, I was not sure how I would feel about Storm but he quickly became my favorite character, over and above Lennon and Phoenix. I really hope the author comes out with a book just for Storm because I really want to get into his head and see how he thinks. The other side characters were fantastic as well and I fell in love with each of them in their own way.

I almost gave this 3 stars because it was addictive and I read it really fast but I actually put it down and was seriously bewildered. The first section of the book I struggled with the plus size rep, I don’t take issue with representing a reality that a lot of the time fat kids get bullied at school and it’s awful but I do take issue with the implication that fat kids don’t have friends??? Like why did she have no friends? She was really nice, quite confident, intelligent, there was no reason for her to be friendless it was weird to me.

Second section read like a bully romance to me, I don’t take issue with a bully romance but it felt like this book didn’t realise it was one? As much as I have my moments where I found Phoenix funny he was soooooooo problematise and a walking bright red flag.

Finally the ending, proposing witching minutes of her finding out her dad was essentially dead? What the actual fuck???

Phoenix redeems himself somewhat after this disastrously timed proposal but not enough to really make up for the entire mid section of the book.
