This was a pretty cute romance, and I love the way Cat Sebastian writes. Some of her sentences are so beautiful, witty, or just downright perfect.

However, I didn’t feel quite as much connection between Kit and Percy as I would have liked. They don’t actually spend much time getting to know each other in the beginning even though they’re around each other quite a bit, and their relationship just missed a certain spark that I’m used to seeing in Cat Sebastian novels.

I also thought the plot was odd in that certain things were obvious to the reader very quickly, but the characters didn’t catch on. For example
Spoilerthe green Bible, Rob being the blackmailer, or Marian and Rob having some other sort of arrangement.

Overall still a sweet read, and I’ll likely pick up the next book in the series.

Cute read - I picked this up after [b:We Could Be So Good|62365905|We Could Be So Good|Cat Sebastian|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1674685755l/62365905._SX50_.jpg|95573575] which was a little meh for me and enjoyed this much more. Intrigued to read the next book and answer some outstanding questions from this one.

A safe, easily digestible, quick read. Nothing wrong with this at all, I happened to pick this up while in a bit of a reading slump, so these qualities were well enjoyed.
A very cute romance, very fluffy story. A fun premise, but don’t read this for the plot, because it’s the driving plot of the MCs, it’s hardly the most important part of the story.

Minus points for one of them "releasing a breath he didn't realize he was holding". Besides that, a very pleasant book 😌👌

"Something terrible was unleashed when a person knew that not only could he tear down homes, take away a family's livelihood, and send people to the far corners of the earth, but he would be praised for it. There were rich men who didn't use their money and power as cudgels, but they still always knew that they had a cudgel ready at hand. They got so used to it, they probably thought they were doing a grand thing by not wielding it. People might say that what he really hated was the system that put too much power in too few hands. But Kit knew he also hated the men."

In 18th century England, a former highwayman turned coffee shop owner falls rather begrudgingly head over heels for the son of the duke who turned his whole world upside down. And, boy howdy, was I locked in from start to finish. I absolutely love historical fiction, especially historical romance, and I'm so glad that I stumbled across this on a recommendation from Goodreads. I was deeply touched by the way the author presented difficult subjects with conviction while also ensuring that they all fit well into the story at hand. The slow burn romance and steadily unfurling mystery at the core were enough to truly have me hooked, especially throughout my immersive read!

when i first saw this cover, i expected the contents within to be more on the fluff side. Instead, what I got was a deep and searing love story, along with themes of social justice and class differences, and some great disability representation.

i also wasn't expecting it to get as steamy as it did. it went into such raw detail, i found myself blushing head to toe on some occasions.

nevertheless, kit and percy were such an endearing couple, and i hope to see more of them in book two. (also, kudos to this book for getting me curious for the next couple without actually giving anything about them away.)

oh, and NO THIRD ACT BREAKUP OR RIDICULOUS CONFLICTS HERE!!!
