The more I read this series, the more I grow to love it. The fourth instalment to the Thursday Murder Club series was fantastic, and so incredibly emotional as well. I have seen reviews mention that throughout the series, you can feel Osman get more confident with his writing, and that is absolutely true. There is humour in all of the novels, but this one had me chuckling out aloud to myself, but equally had me close to tears. It was so, so good!
I think with all of the novels, I have managed to really narrow down the person who had committed the murder around half way through, but for this one, I genuinely didn't see it coming. That element of surprise also really heightened my enjoyment of the book. In comparison to the other books, I felt as though we were getting to know our characters and becoming familiar with their ways, but in this book, the character development was great, and for a lot of our characters, they were in situations which forced them to grow. I really enjoyed that.
I am sad that there is going to be a small lull in the Thursday Murder Club world for now whilst Osman writes a new book, however, it felt an appropriate place to leave it for a while. I am excited for the series to return!
