I found this book to be overly political just for the sake of being political in some cases. SPOILER: the “mass shooting” was very much a thing of today’s world and not so much a thing of the timeframe the author was working in. Sure, there was columbine, but it wasn’t as prevalent as it is now. That, coupled with every other politically charged moment in the book, it seemed like she was using the characters lives to show her political leanings. It took away from the story at times. The other issue I have is that the characters don’t really grow up. I feel like I’m reading “Sadie in her twenties” the whole time.

Not me laying in bed at midnight on a Saturday crying over Sadie, Sam & Marx - what a phenomenally written book.

“It isn’t a sadness, but a joy, that we don’t do the same things for the length of our lives.” - Marx
