Slice of life-ish but it's about a dinosaur zookeeper. Cool notes from the paleontologist they consulted! Book 2 will probably go into background they've been alluding to, so I'm excited. Definitely will continue and want my own copy!

So this book ticks so many boxes for me personally- an art style I enjoy, actual factual and research-backed information (whole pages of it or even just little droplets throughout the pages), stunning artwork of the dinosaurs themselves whilst also keeping you intrigued with the story behind.

Whilst I believe it does lean a little more on the 'slice-of-life' vibes rather than being chock-full of dinosaur action, I think that is just perfect for this book. Not to mention the concept- so refreshing to see that (although I love Jurassic Park, no shade!) the 'we brought dinosaurs back to life' trope isn't used here, but instead there had been an island where dinosaurs managed to live through their extinction event! Neat idea.

It also ends on a cliffhanger, and I'm really interested to see how this story will progress!

A great start from Itaru Kinoshita working together with Shin-ichi Fujiwara, PhD. You can tell just how much they enjoy working together in this book, it is wonderful!
