Having read the 1st book which dealt with grief at the beginning in a light and sometimes humorous way, this book's opening 7 chapters were a real painful downer and I couldn't wait until they went to the comfort food cafe, where things would improve. This book isn't  worth reading twice like the 1st book in the series.  I was expecting the story to transition better as the grieving  teenager's bad behaviour suddenly changing because of a single small incident seemed unlikely.  I enjoyed the parts of the community and most of when the grandparents came to visit with the villagers helping, there were a few funny bits and some sweet parts too.  The ending felt rushed and not resolved, would have liked to read more about their life changing & not "it was all a misunderstanding" part which wasn't creative & felt like forced drama.  It was nice to see bits of Laura again as she was the main character in book 1.
This book had more drama than the 1st and was more depressing and less well written, less relaxing and more focused on heavy grief.
