I really liked this! I didn’t know anything about the book, but saw it on the “lucky day” shelf at my library and decided to give it a try. There are some Jodi Picoult books that I didn’t finish and some that I liked, so I wasn’t sure which way this one would go.

The ending wasn’t what I expected.

6 star read list. I truly believe everyone, and I mean everyone, should read this story. I was so genuinely moved. As someone who classifies themselves as an open minded individual, I learned so much more about certain hot social topics/ issues currently in society & sadly politics that I am a better person for it. I was able to walk away with a better understanding of certain communities that I support although am not a part of & I believe I am a better human for it.

Hated this book. A very real missed opportunity to discuss the nuances and realities facing DV victims, transgender youth, and the criminal justice system.
