roshani chokshi's writing is so haunting and poetic. the dark, twisted whimsy of faerie and the enchanting nature of the house of dreams were so atmospheric and it was so easy getting as wrapped up in indigo's story as her husband and azure did.

what a beautiful story, definitely one I'd love to revisit in the future!

A beautifully written gothic thriller. Poetic, haunting and beautifully twisted mystery. Binged it in a day.

The writing is haunting and so beautiful
This was the art of telling the story without actually telling it till the last chapters.
In the beginning, I have Find it weird that we were reading Azure and the bridegroom story while the story is about Indigo but it was a brilliant way to lay things like this!

some things were disturbing and sad and just broken!

I would have given it 3 stars cause the pace is really slow but the plot is brilliant and the last chapters made it jump to 4 stars.

recommended to dark gothic haunting horror fans.

Enchanting, lyrical, it's as the others say. The ending is... It works incredibly on a thematic level, and it's breadcrumbed pretty well, so I think I tend towards liking it.

Once again I’m disappointed with a Chokshi book. I think the writing is absolutely beautiful and the idea is great but the execution is just such a let down.

I have complicated but ultimately positive feelings about this one. The writing is very lyrical, loquacious even, and I felt it lent itself well to the story in this case. It’s dark, whimsical, and very weird. The vibes were top notch, but I have mixed feelings about the end. I see what it’s doing on a metaphorical/thematic level, and it’s great. But I’m…conflicted. I need to
sit with it.
