A great read but I did hop on the bandwagon to make sure I finished the book before seeing the movie sunday! I loved the characters, the emotion, the drama, and yet the beautiful simplicity of it all
but wtf I didn’t think she actually killed chase I’ll be interested to see what the movie does w that I always thought Tate did it in an act of love for Kya??

Beginning: 2 stars
Middle: 4.5 stars
End: 2 stars

I can't really decide how to rate this book. I feel like I really enjoyed it for the most part however I feel like 2 stars is to low but 4 stars is to high. There were parts of the book that were definitely more enjoyable than others. I really started enjoying it around 50% but started enjoying it less again around 80%. It was a super slow start but a super easy read overall.

I really liked how the author described the marsh and I loved Kya's character. The writing felt very abrupt, almost anyone could have written it. I also found it was very predictable but with that being said I loved how everything unfolded.

There was a main plot, but I felt like it never went anywhere. There was a certain point in the book where everything just came to a stop and slowly moved forward. The ending was very, very rushed.

Wow, this is easily the best book I’ve read this year. Everything about the way it was written, to the characters kept me sucked in. The descriptions of the marsh were so beautiful and made me feel like I was there. Kya is such an interesting, gentle, strange character and she reminds me of an innocence I haven’t felt in a while. I wish I had better words to describe how this book made me feel (against my will) all the feelings. Highly recommend!

I see why this book is so popular. Rich with imagery, page-turning chapters, and a fascinating main character. I loved part 1, especially because it was based so heavily in the nature / survival aspect of the book. Part two was less enjoyable, but I’m also not someone super into law/court stuff. The ending is very interesting.
