The entire time I read this book, I was sad, happy and angry all at the same time as learning educational things through Kya’s love for the marsh. I read this book within 3 days because I could not put it down. And when I did put it down, I couldn’t wait to pick it back up again.
I truly thought I knew who the murderer was but I was so shocked at the last few pages. This was an incredible story about love, acceptance, difference and the harsh realities of the natural order of everything and every living species.
I cannot wait to see the movie after reading this! Highly recommend.

I see why this book is so popular. Rich with imagery, page-turning chapters, and a fascinating main character. I loved part 1, especially because it was based so heavily in the nature / survival aspect of the book. Part two was less enjoyable, but I’m also not someone super into law/court stuff. The ending is very interesting.

Why did it take me so long to finally read this book?

Where the Crawdad Sing has been on my bookshelf since it was published. I remember all of the hype on Booktube and Goodreads back then, and I kept putting off sitting down and reading the book (probably because I have a hardback edition and I hate reading hardbacks, too heavy).

With the movie soon to be released, I figured I had better give it a go before it was spoiled by the film, and I am so glad I did!

I fell in love with Kya. Her story is both astounding and heartbreaking. The resilience she faced against insurmountable odds is remarkable.

Delia Owens has done a fabulous job in bringing the marsh to life, making me feel a part of Kya's world.

I almost wish the book finished at the end of the court case as the rest felt a little rushed.

Overall, an amazing read.

I loved this book especially in the first three quarters except for that last quarter of the book where the story was reminded of chase andrews death. I feel like the ending was a bit rushed but meaningful. Reading the courtroom sessions was a DRAG to the point I just skimmed it. The story had a good meaning and the imagery and writing especially in the beginning was so good. My favorite area of the book was her childhood.
