I've been reading this with my Year 8s for a while and today I ended up sitting down after the lesson and reading ahead to the end. I think this is such a valuable book for YA readers - it's one of the only children's books I've read that deals with toxic friendships in a way that feels both really honest and relatable, with that weird combination of almost-obsession and the high of Being Bad, alongside the stress of how that conflicts with who you are. I feel like I am articulating this very poorly, but also this book cracked my twelve-year-old head open and peered inside, and the worst part of it is that I can't tell if I'm Natalie or Tulip. I hope I'm Natalie. Or I hope I'm proof that there's hope for the Tulips of the world, even after everything.
Absolutely brilliant! It’s very honest and direct. Beautifully written, fast moving plot and overall just a pleasure to read! Thank you Anne Fine! Highly recommend 5/5

One of my all-time favourite books. I read it with my sister, I was in my teens and she was in her twenties but we both enjoyed the book. The characters are captivating and Tulip's obsession with fire is mesmerising.
creepy and disturbing, just what I was in the mood for!

This is an amazing book about friendship and how hard it can be to recognise when its becoming toxic. One of my favourite books ever!

I was intrigued by the synopsis but then when I started reading I got kind of disappointed. Even though it was a clever plot and if you think of it, cleverly crafted, but it didn’t still my hunger.
