I don’t know why, but this was a disappointment. After reading the hades x Persephone series I hoped this would be just as good, but it surely isn’t. I cringed when the spicy chapters were happening and I cringed when the fairytale references were happening. I just didn’t enjoy it.

I’ve always been a sucker for fairytales and retellings and this was the perfect combination of the two for me. Honestly I’ll read anything Scarlett writes and this did not disappoint.

I made it to 12% of this retelling... and I have three words. Not. Worth. It.

Okay, I loved it. It was such an entertaining and cute short read. Brought me back to my days of Alice in Wonderland with a sprinkle of spice

This book was a very quick and enjoyable read. I really needed something sweet, a bit spicy and great story telling. Scarlett St. Clair has always delivered and so I knew without a doubt this would do the trick.

This story is the first in a series of seven short stories, all intertwined and all different fairy tale retellings. The story starts in a small village Elk, where Gesela lives. The village is cursed and every time a curse needs lifted, the council picks a resident to solve the issue.
One day, the town's well runs dry and Gesela is picked to go to the bottom of the well, and kill the toad that took residence there. Once the toad is killed, the well will fill with water again.
However, once she kills the toad, she takes the body home with her, buries it in her garden and goes to sleep, only to be awakened by 5 elves, claiming she killed their brother and has to atone for his death.
She gets teleported to the last brother's kingdom as his captive. To be free, she has to guess the brother's true name within 7 days. If she fails, she will have to stay as his prisoner forever.

I really LOVED the story and the chemistry between Gesela and Casamir. There was the usual "She can't love me for I am a beast." And "He can't love me for I am just a mortal woman." But besides that, it was amazing.

I was sad the story already ended when it did. But I really recommend this story to anyone who wants a sweet, heartwarming story!
