A series of more-or-less detailed essays on the same idea, Gatto's honesty is simple and refreshing. He doesn't present a whole lot of solutions except to look around you and start trying.

Reactionary af. We all know public education is poor in this country, but our buddy here wants to make it far, far worse while day-dreaming of some mythical bygone past.

I will say his writing style I enjoyed. Reminds me of Will Buckley. Witty, snarky, fun to read, but also pure condensed evil.

I support the idea (lol) so I liked that, but it was kinda confusing and repetitive. The second is to be expected because it was various speeches, but I still found it hard to follow all of his points.

"Education and schooling, as we all have experienced, are mutually exclusive terms." This book was written by a teacher who was in the school system for 30+ years and saw the damage done to the students. School is a factory that sets kids up to follow orders and not to think.  Children are not being educated, the author argues that federally run education will never work and that education needs to be left to the individual state and family.

I agree with what he is saying for the most part, but the way he went about this book is...intense. This is one long crazy rant. It's a sweeping generalization of "everyone." Trying his other book for some facts to back up his statements.
