I read this trilogy in high school and absolutely loved it. I bought it and read it a second time and it was just as good!

I bought this book almost a year ago from Amazon because I liked the cover and the story seemed nice. I started it some weeks later but found it boring so I didn't touch it again. 3 days ago, I decided to start reading it again. It was so loooooong. Of course by then I have forgotten that it's not one book but three in one. Finishing it I felt relieved I picked this version and didn't waste my money on 3 books that would end in a point that would make me feel like I read a fanfiction instead of a book.

So... this is a story that should have been since the very beginning in one book, but one that wasn't so looooong. I kept pushing myself to keep reading it. From the whole book I believe only 50 pages got my attention.
The first 10 chapters give you the idea of a hopeless romance book that adds some supernatural elements to be more interesting. Your mind starts proceeding that it is a mystery book only at the chapter that things start getting interesting. For me that chapter was when Gregory drugged Ivy and pulled her to the train station. Then chapters without interest follow and you go back to feeling bored until the last chapters that things start being interesting again. Of course, the last chapter spoils everything being silly and unsatisfying.

Now, about the characters. Ivy got on my nerves so much that I spent quite some time murmuring about how stupid she is. She thought she could do everything her way, that she shouldn't involve certain people when they were already involved, she kept pushing away Tristan who was there to help her but as soon as she was in danger she was calling for him, she fell for anyone who shown her a bit of affection and then hated them as soon as something would come against them, she kept saying she loved Tristan more than anything but she kept recalling how nice she felt in Will's arms, and when Tristan was gone she immediately moved on and fell in Will's arms telling him she loved him. I mean....really?

Yes, of course, she can't always be all over Tristan since he died, but it takes more than a month or two to go on and move to the next guy, especially when your dead boyfriend actually did everything he could to stay with you and protected you by being your guardian angel.

Beth was my favourite character. She was funny, friendly, sweet and nice. I loved the fact she had powers, how much she wrote, and how nice she was to everyone.

Will was a nice character, too. I wasn't convinced he was the bad guy. I could feel that if he was, Tristan wouldn't be able to enter him and use him as his vessel. Everyone has secrets. Our minds are private places, our sanctuaries. So, I didn't find it too suspicious that Will didn't let Tristan in completely since Tristan wasn't completely honest with Will, too.

Susanne was so stupid and I don't understand how she and Ivy could be B.F.Fs again after everything was over. I mean... she actually made Ivy's life worst when everything was bad already. She trusted Gregory and not her friend, she said all these mean things and helped with the rumours going all around. I won't mention that she played mind games with Gregory and took for a test drive most of the guys at her school. Ooops, I did.

Tristan was obsessed with Ivy and it got to me how he thought he knew everything that was good for her, how he ignored Lacey thinking he could do things better, and how he couldn't focus on his mission whenever Ivy was around, but in a way I understand. These were his last moments with her, and he had to come in terms that even though she kept saying she loved him, she was making out with Gregory and was falling in love with Will. We talk about a faithful girl, ne?

Maggie is the type of mother you can call weak and selfish. She reminded me of Renee from Twilight Saga. Yes, she wanted her kids happy but she didn't take the time to talk with them, hear them out and then help them out as a mother should do. Even at the end of the book, she believed Ivy killed Ella, she believed Gregory more than her own daughter.

Lacey was a funny character but also so dramatic. Poor girl, she fell in love with Tristan and he never understood. And she did help Ivy even if she didn't like her. I don't think she will ever finish her mission, so I kind of feel bad for her because of that, too.

All in all, this was a barely okay book. I am glad I am over with it. I will go for the other two because they were gifted to me, but I don't think I will read them again soon. The plot was good. I mean...mystery, romance, supernatural....angels...a killer... it would have been much better if it was shorter and if the writer had worked in a deeper level with her characters. In many points they were a bit flat. At least, that's what I think.

I still am not sure if what angered me the most about this book was Ivy or how long, boring and unnecessary some scenes were.

i distinctly remember reading this and really loving it in seventh grade

I thought this book was amazing!! I read all three books in 2 days! I could not put it down!!!! I really wish that in the beginning Ivy & Tristan would have had more time together. I couldn't believe the ending of book 3 though! In the back of my mind I knew that her step brother had something to do w/ everything. It was still shocking though! I couldn't imagine going through what Ivy went through. My husband is a Marine and I could not imagine ever losing him. Of course it is always in the back of my mind until he is done.

Kissed By an Angel is a really good 3 part book, that tells a story about a girl who gets into a terrrible accident that takes away her true love. Riveting!

My absolute favorite book series

I will always love her Dark Secrets series the best! This one, not as much because I didn't like Ivy that much. I would have liked Tristan more if he wasn't constantly moaning over Ivy. Yet in the end, the both of them had a mystery to solve, and Ivy is your classic damsel in distress while Tristan is the classic hero. Overall a relatively quick read.

I loved this book! It was a great thriller/romance novel. I wished there was more pages describing Tristan and Ivy's relationship but all in all I'm going to really miss this book! Plus it's gotten me interested in swimmers! ;)

I got so bored I could barely get through the first book.
