I’m not sure why this has such a low rating. The book sucked in my attention and I could not put it down. I was hooked the entire time. So many twists and turns without being too much. The ending…definitely made my heart hurt.

I liked the initial set up: set in the SF Bay Area, a woman is married to someone in the tech industry (a CTO?) and then he disappears for some reason. I did not like that the story deviated from that initial plot line — the husband ended up changing his identity because of his father-in-law’s involvement with a mob boss in Texas?! I was really hoping for a spicy Silicon Valley story, but that didn’t happen.

didn't hook me immediately and I didn't love the narrator's voice, but once I got into it, I was SUPER into it.
