The plot twist was definitely not something I saw coming so MY GOD when it happened I was shook. Idk what it is but the reasoning why her hubby disappeared didn’t seem “dramatic” enough for me. (I’m a Leo sue me)
I loved the way that the relationships between Step mom and daughter developed thru this book and then at the end when she called her “Mom”

The only reason I bumped this to two stars is because the writing style was so good!
I wanted to read more - I found myself craving the next page, the next chapter!
Until it all started to wrap up. I felt that the ending was a cop out. It seemed like the author just didn’t know how they wanted to end things so they did it by tying up the least number of loose ends possible and just leaving it open.
I was not impressed and in fact, was sorely disappointed.

3,5/5 very pleasantly surprised. i really liked the premise of the book and started really strong. towards the middle the author lost me a bit and i do think the author chose a very basic trope. but! the ending did tug on some of my emotional strings.

I agree with the other people who said the ending is anticlimactic. It's really good otherwise.
