A nice story, and if I hadn't read many of his other books, I probably would have given it a higher rating. Liked it better than his past couple of books, but I think he just can't do better than the Notebook.

Beautifully written inspirational story which I thoroughly enjoyed. The author gives the reader a story that is so believable it reads more like a non fiction work. I was totally engrossed as the story unraveled that I found it hard to break from, I had to know “what happened next?”. I have enjoyed other stories by this author as visual productions and this is my first novel, either way he writes heart warming poignant tales that are romantic in nature and filled with drama.
The first of Sparks' novels that didn't make me sob. I don't like this narrator, though, and I think he's narrated at least one other Sparks novel. He makes the NC women sound like total airheads...NOT digging the falsetto.
Also, what is it about Sparks that REQUIRES that all his male characters be all muscles and sinew and the girls be waifish, slight, and gorgeous?!? I mean...in EVERY book? REALLY?!?
And the Andy Griffith-esque way he delineated "good guy" from "bad guy" was really something...and the foreshadowing was a bit heavy handed. I knew (most) of what would happen after the first few chapters.
For all my ranting it's hard to tell, but the book was actually pretty ok for a listening while I'm headed to work kind of read.

It was typical of Nicholas Sparks. He has a formula that works, much like other writers. Set in the south, romance, class differences, someone dies or is close to dying, somebody meddles in the romantic relationship to build up that tension, etc. The class differences weren't as pronounced in this book as others by him, but I liked that bit of change.
Every avid reader says, "Of course the book is better than the movie." This time, they're really not kidding.

"Captivating and heartwarming"
What made the experience of listening to The Lucky One the most enjoyable?
The story is beautiful, slowly weaving you into the fabric of the world created by Sparks and the narrator is eloquent and captures each of the several voices so well that one can immediately tell one from the other
Who was your favorite character and why?
Logan is one of those men one hopes to meet in real life but the dog Zeus takes the cake!
What does John Bedford Lloyd bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
As I said earlier, the way he captured each voice of the tale brings a dimension to the story I probably would have missed myself in reading the book
If you could take any character from The Lucky One out to dinner, who would it be and why?
I can't really take the dog and Logan seems to predictable so Nana to glean her wisdom and enjoy her life stories and wry wit!
