Romanceathon 2019

'“You think I'm cute?”
“In a gross way.”'

Ahhhhhh! SOCUTE!!!!!! This is by far, my favorite read so far this month. The chemistry between the two main characters was some of the best I've seen in a romance book in a long time. I love how funny and just real they were. Plus this book included the enemies-to-lovers and fake-dating tropes, which are some of my favorites. And the fact that most of it took place on a beautiful Maui resort only helped my love for this story.

The only real drawback for me, was how much more enjoyable the first roughly 60% of the story was compared to later bits (minus that beautiful epilogue of course, I'm a sucker for those types of endings!). I didn't hate any part of this book or anything, it just slowed down a lot and I felt my interest waning. I'm not sure which part exactly caused me to feel that way though.

Overall a fantastic read! I can't wait to read more by Christina Lauren.

Olivia's twin sister, Amy is getting married. When a disaster hits the wedding, Olivia takes her sister's place on her honeymoon, accompanied by her new brother-in-law, Ethan. Ethan and Olivia didn't have a great start when they met years prior, so this honeymoon will be nothing short of awkward.

This was a really cute rom com. Nothing that wasn't predictable, but I enjoyed it and laughed out loud at a few parts. :) It's been on my bookshelf for a long time, and I'm mad at myself for putting it to the side for so long now that I've finished it.

honestly i don't read romance that much, although i really love romance books because damn, the boost of serotonin is INSANE, i enjoyed that one, but not to the point of putting 4-stars

it's not really an enemies-to-lovers, i mean i heard this from tiktok, i really expected them to hate each other with a burning passion, but it's not really the case... i just knew ethan would be crushing on olive for the longest time i mean bro it was kinda obvious ahah + olive finds ethan pretty hot from the start, i mean you enemy has to be hot for the relationship to work out so yeah, makes sense

i found myself screaming, i mean, whenever something happened i was like: OH MY GOD!! and that was amazing to feel THIS happy and be like: I WANT THIS IN REAL LIFE, but well, girl, that's not how it happens in real life, anyways, i had a nice time daydreaming and being: HAAAAA i want this so i guess it's a nice read to relax and fangirl and just be cheesy by yourself

and the reason why i'm not putting 4 -stars is because... i feel like something is lacking, you know, that *spice* that makes a piece of fiction just insanely amazing? that's it, and i struggle to find a romance that really has this sprinkle of spice, that makes you feel like: 'damn, that's some amazing shit there' - to be fair, i've never had this *realisation* when reading a romance

it's a nice read, i finished it in like 2 days, which is world record for me but i read books about behavioural economics on the side so definitely not the same type of literature but because it gave me such a boost of serotonin, i can't read another romance for another while because it will mess up with my perception of reality, you know, fictional men
