4.5 star!
i actually really really liked this book!! the enemies to lovers trope is a little controversial at times, but stephanie wrote it just how i like it. they got to know each other('s personalities) better before the actual romance/ sex scenes, which i always greatly appreciate.
the chapters in this book are long, but i didn't really notice it that much when i was reading. usually, that bothers me a lot. oh and also, stephanie archer writes in such a way that you fly through her books

"I’ve fallen in love with Emmett Rhodes, the most unavailable guy in town. So unavailable he’d rather have a fake relationship than a real one." 💜

As an avid reader, there are certain tropes that just speak to my soul, and fake dating is undeniably at the top of that list. Honestly, you’d think after reading so many fake dating romances, I’d be a bit jaded, but there’s something about it that keeps me coming back for more. I really enjoyed the story of Avery and Emmett. Their enemies-to-lovers dynamic, the witty banter and their chemistry pulled me in. It’s always a joy to watch two characters who initially can’t stand each other slowly, almost imperceptibly, start to fall. There were plenty of twists and turns, unexpected hurdles that kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering how they would navigate their way through. It's refreshing when a well-loved trope still manages to surprise you, and Stephanie Archer achieved that effortlessly.

One of the things I truly appreciated about That Kind of Guy was how utterly enjoyable and easy it was to read. This is the kind of book you pick up when you need a dose of pure escapism. I devoured it in a single sitting, losing myself completely in Avery and Emmett's world. The pacing was spot-on, ensuring there was never a dull moment, and the story flowed so smoothly that I barely noticed the pages turning. It’s a real testament to Stephanie Archer’s storytelling that she can create such a compelling narrative.

This was extremely fluffy and humorous - found myself smiling down at the pages a number of times. Nothing particularly original about the storyline, in parts a bit predictable so not a 5 star read but Emmett’s fear of turtles and Avery’s blatant disregard of this fear was very endearing…

Let’s save the turtles!

This was sweet and I liked the main characters, it could have used a little more editing as some things didn’t make sense.
