A quick, enjoyable enemies to lovers read.

Under 300 pages, the plot of this book moved at a good steady pace. I didn’t feel like it was rushed at all.
The separate storylines our characters had was interesting and flushed out. The tropes of fake dating and enemies to lovers was done well within this book.

Emmett is a charming character. He cares so much for those around him and wants the best for them. He is cocky as well but that adds to the back and forth banter he has with the main girl which is really good.

Avery is headstrong and very hard working. She is such a loveable character as well. Seeing her open up and develop feelings for Emmett was so sweet. I loved seeing her realise her feelings. Also seeing her love her job in the restaurant was so cute!!!

Overall, I liked this book and I wanna continue the series, looking forward to seeing what the other books are like.

It was fine. The first half gut me into a reading slump but the second was kind of good. I mean I can’t complain, I got it for free and I heard it’s the „worst“ out of the series. It’s definitely the worst cover, who is this man?
I didn’t laugh that much but it was ok for passing the time.
Don’t know what else to say. I liked his protective povs.
Still excited for the others.

Just a smutty contemporary. Not a bad read at all

cheyenney's review against another edition

DID NOT FINISH: 65%

I only read this book so that I could read the next book in the series and honestly this book turned me off of the whole series entirely 😭 up until I dnf'ed, there was no character development and I didn't care about the characters or their relationship. also, I hated how they went from barely disliking each other to only thinking about sex bc WTH that was so unrealistic and I also was never convinced that they actually didn't like each other in the beginning bc there was no real reason. writing wise, the timeline and pacing of the story felt really weird, to the point where I went to goodreads just to see if anyone felt the same. everything felt so rushed and also dragged at the same time and not a single event in the book actually felt fully fleshed out.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST why did emmett keep ambushing the girl with the next step in the fake relationship without consulting her at all??? and why did she keep going along with it????? it felt like emmett just got a power trip or something every time he saw someone react positively to the fake relationship and then needed to immediately take the whole ruse a step further instead of just keeping their relationship as is and making it more believable. anyways this book was not the worst book ever but was generally just a waste of time and uninteresting.
