Unbelievable that this all came out of one mind. It’s been almost 40 years since I first read The Hobbit as a child, and it took me this long to read The Silmarillion because I was always afraid of its famous density and complexity, but I regret waiting now that I’ve plowed through it. The Amazon show reminded me that I’ve always wanted to read this and over the past few years I’ve come to appreciate Tolkien more through rewatching the films frequently. Maybe it was better to have waited to a point in my life that I can appreciate it. This was more enjoyable than I thought; I will definitely not be able to remember everything that happens but it will greatly enrich my experience every time I watch the films again now that I can rewatch them with my daughter who’s come to love them as well.
