Just finished this book and i cried over the last chapter. the mother and a child chapter was a really sad one to read, but lovely.

I would love to give this 5 stars, the ending had me crying when I normally am not emotionally impacted by a book, but it took a lot out of me to start the book. That is the only reason for the deduction, but I will definitely be continuing on with the series

Four separate, yet connected, stories set in a café where one can travel back in time, as long as you follow several very specific rules. The first story dragged a bit for me, but the second had me weeping. The third story was emotional and the pacing was better than the first. The last story hit the perfect balance of emotion and pacing.

This book has an intriguing premise, and I was intrigued enough to read to the end. I liked how the author explored the way that even very rule-restricted time travel could be extremely meaningful for people. I also liked the little community of characters.

However, the writing style was off-puttingly clunky. When I found out it was originally a play, it made more sense. Much more work should have gone into making it readable as a novel. There were many repetitive descriptions pointing out the obvious.

Most of the main characters are women, but it's obvious they were written by a man. They conform too closely to stock types with emphasis on familial duty. I was most intrigued by the inscrutable waitress Kazu, but her development was very haphazard.

Still, I liked reading this book and enjoy the premise enough to check out the sequels.

i found the concept so interesting and while it didn’t make me cry it did touch me. also, i thought we would get to know one new outsider with each chapter but i loved that it was more about the people in the cafe.
