TW/CW, there are lots and here are some specifics to help you decide if this is for you or not:

mild poisoning, infidelity between main characters, rape of a side character on page, stillbirth- bleeding described, then it skips to after stillbirth and includes mild descriptions of healing. I was writing this as I go, but there are just too many trigger warnings to detail them all.

Look, I should hate this book. I read the first three quarters finding it really long and in need of some editing, and then I read the last quarters - the first book did this to me too. The last quarter is five stars for me. I loved it!
I’m not gonna put this in spoilers because I think it might be useful for some who haven’t read the book yet, the rape depicted in this book are far too graphic me to feel comfortable. A lot of warning should be taken before reading this. I also think it strayed a little bit into victim shaming, and the ableism is a little bit uncomfortable for my liking. 
A good book, but you need to know what you’re getting into.

This story goes from being almost a history textbook to graphic sexual assault and back multiple times. It’s just not worth it.

I have picked up and put down this book so. many. times. Like, it’s been years — but I finally completed it. It’s such a complex plot. The dates always got me flipping back and forward. Despite it taking half my life to finish, I loved it.

I'm amazed at how easy and enjoyable it is to read an almost 1000-page book.  This author is amazing.

On my reread:
I had forgotten how jarring it is that the 2nd book starts in 1968 😅
Even on a reread, I was impatiently waiting for it to jump to the 1700s because I was eager to get back to Jamie and Claire lol.
A big chunk of the book takes place in Paris as they try to stop the uprising, and some of the politics and society stuff can get a bit trying, but there's also so much WILD shit that goes down too that it's never boring. 
The lead-up to Culloden happens so quickly--well, compared to the rest of the book lol. I somehow had forgotten about the part where

Claire ended up in Duke Sandringham's clutches??

, the consequences of that are wild.
Ugh. The part when Claire goes back into the stones?? Ugly tears.
The jump back to 1968 is much less jarring than starting there, and by then you're excited to see how Brianna reacts. I can't even imagine what reading that last bit might've felt like back when the book was newly published. Like

he didn't die in Culloden??
