I wish it were longer! That's the only reason it doesn't get five stars.

I read this out of order, although I don't think it matters. This is technically book 3 of the trilogy of short books behind the scenes, so to speak.
Am I the only person who didn't realize Hogwarts was in Scotland?? How did I miss that?
This little book is a quick 79 pages of insight into Hogwarts and how JK Rowling came up with some of the things we all love. We learn more about the Hogwarts Express and Platform 9 3/4. Got some good info on the Sorting Hat and the 5 minute rule.
The castle itself was explored with the Hufflepuff Common Room, which we've never seen, and the Marauder's Map ("I solemnly swear I am up to no good"). Time travel is discussed via the Time-Turner as well as all the Castle residents - ghosts AND portraits!
Lastly, we get the secrets of the Castle. Very good background information!

I actively avoided canon harry potter stories and opted for fic over the years for many reasons but mostly surrounding Jo and how she keeps on adding statements that, I think, are better left off to the reader. I love how HP has been a cultural phenomenon and that almost a whole generation acknowledges how brilliant it is and I think part of its brilliance is that as we grow, there are things from this series that only reveal themselves to us as we start to understand things differently. However, reading this book made me realize that Jo put a lot of thought into details and it also reminded me of the intricate workings of the world she had us borrow and I could not be more grateful for this and all of that. I recommend the grown HP reader to pick this book up and share the fascination of the HP world again.

A great short story about Hogwarts. Really interesting, though I wouldn't mind a big book with maps and illustrations and even more stories about Hogwarts though.

I enjoyed this collection the least, though it has nothing to do with the subject matter - I find the secrets of Hogwarts to be fascinating. I was just... hoping for more, from this one? I don't know. I loved learning about the Portraits, and the Hufflepuff Common Room, but... there wasn't enough 'new', 'unknown', in this collection for my taste.

Honestly, despite knowing that this was an e-short, I still couldn't help be surprised when it finished. It was fascinating to read little tidbits about different parts, objects, and things related to Hogwarts (specifically the pensieve) and Rowling's thoughts/reasonings behind them, and it gives you more insight into the world. But I wanted more. More about the people and places, more about the secrets and history, Hogsmead for example. It's a fantastic addition to the Harry Potter universe.
