Love the concept and the plot, but I wish it was slower and deeper. It’s too fast and everything stays surface level.

Well it took me a while to get around to it, but what a fantastic conclusion to the trilogy.

My review for this is likely very similar to my reviews for the previous two novels in the series: solid, entertaining sci-if with some exciting, unique ideas that just don’t get developed enough. Thompson really knows how to move a plot along, how to coax the reader into gobbling up another chapter, but some of the perspective shifts felt quite jarring in this one and I often lost track of the narrative threads. Like eating a moreish bag of popcorn, I quickly made my way through this book, enjoyed the process but found it ultimately a little unsatisfying. I’ll probably want more like it soon, though.

Wow. What an end to this stunning trilogy! I laughed. I cried. I gasped. I cheered. After thoroughly enjoying the first two installments of this series, I was really looking forward to settling into the final book, but 'The Rosewater Redemption' really blew me away. I can absolutely imagine myself revisiting this series in the future (even though I'm rarely a re-reader) because I'm certain there must be lots of delicious clues and foreshadowing for certain elements of the story lines throughout the first two books.
Thompson's world building and character development comes together brilliantly in this final novel. In a series that could have really sprawled into too many characters, I felt that he gave us just enough - allowing the reader to get fully invested in the characters. The prose itself is often beautiful (and at times brutal), and the relationships between characters are incredibly well crafted.
Finally, I also need to SHOUT TO THE HEAVENS about how ab-so-lute-ly amazing the audiobook narration was for this book. I was already a big fan of Bhayo Gbadamosi after listening to the first two books, but he really takes it to the next level in this final installment. His interpretation and performance of each character is so well rounded, so compelling, it's impossible not to get sucked in. Really incredible work, and one of the few instances where I would probably recommend experiencing this series via audio instead of reading it (if that's your jam), because the performance really is *that* good.
