okay this book was a vast improvement from the first book but I also felt like we took a WHILE to get the ball rolling. the beginning started out strong, then we dwindled down with the pacing and then we hit 60% and BAM we didn’t stop.
I did guess the big reveal but I wasn’t mad about it and then we were thrown a whole lot more info along with said reveal so it was a lot to take in.
the ick factor was at an all time high this book and I had a feeling about what the endgame was with Richard but not to the extent that he was going to take it to 🤢.
we did kind of shove the other storyline with Isaiah’s father away and I felt like it just ended and that was that.
did this story need to be put in two books? no I don’t think so, especially since the first book was a lot of filler. I think that both of these books would have a higher rating had they been put into one book.

Isiah & Gemma took the cake in this book! I was super nervous & loaded with questions at the end of book 1. SJ did a phenomenal job at keeping me on the edge of my seat with this plot. Both of these characters of pasts they are trying to overcome. It is honestly so amazing to see these characters work together to overcome these insane obstacles & reach their HEA.

Watching these two fall in love was a treat! But I have to say that the plot was just has amazing as their romance. I never felt cheated or confused by the plot. Everything was well placed & the story just flowed so well with their romance.

Really did enjoy this read

Eh

Better than the first. We finally get into what the first book took FOREVER to build up to. The pace was much more engaging and interesting to read. However the ending was lackluster and I would have liked it to be fleshed out a little more. I know the author has plans to revisit this world with other characters, but I haven't decided yet if I will be reading those. Not at the top of my recommendation list, but not horrible.

This duet was riveting, edgy, deep, angsty, suspenseful & complex. Dark themes with a hell of a lot of love. I went into this duet blind and it completely blew me away.

The depth of the characters and the story was simply amazing! It was a slow-burn and so much angst to dive deep to learn about each MC. Isaiah and Gemma's stories were told through dual POV which really opened your eyes to the characters thoughts, feelings & emotions.

I don't want to give too much away without spoilers. This is just a must read!

Isaiah and Gemma grew up very, very differently yet had similar pasts. Isaiah the bad boy. Gemma the good girl. Attending the same boarding school brought them together. The complexity of their relationship lies deep within themselves and each other and is so so much more than being two teenagers attending school.

“If you cry, I’ll wipe your tears. If you have nightmares, I’ll wake you up. If you break down right here in front of me, I will piece you back together.

This was fan-freaking-tastic a bite your nails while you turn the page read. I couldn't stop reading this book every time I tried to stop something would happen that it had me on the edge of my seat the whole damn time. This was the final book in Isaiah and Gemma heartbreaking story and boy did this arthur deliver a fitting final ending that quiet literally had my lil black heart reaching for the tissues. I'm still not ok the secrets that were revealed the lies so many lies the cover ups I'm seriously hoping that uncle gets what's coming to him setting him on fire is to good. I honestly believe this was better than Bk1 by a slim margin though. I would highly recommend reading this duet especially there'll be more stories about other character's in the book and I for one am here for all the thing's. I have many many questions about what happens next.
