This felt aggressively long for the story it was telling but was also kinda camp, i guess. i didn't hate this but i also didn't love it. I think it was a bit ambitious and there are a lot of characters to track of to the point i was always fucking confused. I also found myself way more interested in Cain and Menace than anyone else in this book. It kinda reminded me of an mm version of God of Malice mixed with the necessary evils series, so if that's your jam, then you'll probably eat it up.
I will read the follow-ups, tho bc again Cain and Menace, I need it, tomorrow

I really liked the premise of this story and loved the world that it was set in. Remiel was a likeable character and the Vile Boys were intriguing want me to know more about them.
However I cannot understand why this book took me longer to complete than normal, I can usually read a book this size in less than a day.
I am going to carry on with this series as I am intrigued with the Vile boys

This book is fucked up. I love it! But probably wasn't the best thing to read in a depressed moment either, lol. There's a metric fuckton of trigger warnings that you should check before going in. Unless you're fucked in the head like me. 🤷🏻♀️
The town of Moros is utterly engrossing. I cannot wait to read more to learn about the residents and our Vile Boys! Krypt and Remiel are delightfully dark, but their demons are comfortable together.

I honestly don’t know what I just read.
First and foremost, I want to say that this was not exactly what I was expecting. So I really encourage all readers to check tags and triggers here! For me there is a difference between dark romance & horror erotica (or whatever we want to call the next level) and I would say when one of the MMCs unalives an innocent girl in chapter 4, we are moving away from just “dark romance”. Typically I expect my dark romance MMCs to be morally gray but redeemable… like “I unalive people but only bad people!” Ha. But I don’t think we should expect the MMCs in this series to necessarily be redeemable.
But as long as you understand what you are getting into, you’ll likely enjoy this one! The story is SO interesting and I can’t wait to see how things develop, learn more about the town & its cults/gangs, and to be introduced to the rest of the Vile Boys! Despite this being much darker than I expected, I’m still looking forward to continue this reading journey!
I really liked the dynamic between the two MCs as well. And I really enjoyed watching them develop as individuals with the help of the other. As twisted as their relationship was, we still stan a relationship that helps you grow as a person!
