Out of the stadium!!
Ok, I couldn't say "hit it out of the ballpark", cause, this isn't a baseball book. But... thes two authors, favorites of mine in their own right, definitely scored a touchdown with this book. The banter, the swoon, the heat, the love.. everything they are known for comes together perfectly in thsi first installment. I am already salivating for more. Brava, you two!!

"He was supposed to be an itch I’d scratched, then moved on, but somehow he had burrowed beneath my skin, sank down, and rooted himself in the marrow of my bones, and yeah, that was some poetic fucking shit, but it was how I felt. He’d somehow become a part of me, this extension of myself that lived inside me"
sigh.
This was a very disappointing read. So cliché, predictable and just overall basic in terms of everything (plot, characters, character development...blah blah).
All the new MM releases have been bland and boring. I am tired of reading 3 star reads. I have no one to blame but myself

- a good simple read to take my mind off of things
- i did think i would stop before reaching the end but just pulled through
- if it was any longer i wouldn’t have finished though
- nothing earth shattering or groundbreaking but i liked both of the characters and their dynamic and how they weren’t toxic or stupid
- the brother being chill and not flipping out was also a nice factor
- they also were able to come out instead of being outed which usually doesn’t happen in these sports type books so that was good
- the sex was kind of repetitive by the end but that wasn’t a huge deal overall
- communication was actually something done in this which made me avoid the usual frustration
- again idk if i’d ever read again but it was nice to read. nice is a good word

Loved everything about this debut novel for the Playing For Keeps series by mm power houses Neve Wilder and Riley Hart! Both Ramsey (Rams) and Garret (G) have to overcome the shadows of previous family members being in the league to prove to be better players and in Rams case a better person. With Ramseys help Garret is able to overcome his issues and the two prove they are perfect for each other on and off of the field.
What makes this book so great besides the chemistry between the two main characters is their relationships with the rest of the cast. In particular with Houston (Rams best friend/ G's brother), he is just one of those characters you immediately fall in love with and hope he will also get a story. After his career ending injury he could've been rude to G for taking his spot on the team as well as becoming close to Rams, instead he encourages them to be happy. It was a true joy to read. Cannot wait for book 2!
