This has the first 3 books in the series. Loved it. Am a big fan of the TV show and am super happy with the characters and stories so far. Looking forward up reading the rest

I love Phryne Fisher. I want to BE Phryne Fisher. These three books are a great introduction to Phryne. If you've watched the show, two of these books will seem mildly familiar although there are some big plot differences but Miss Fisher is the same awesome detective. She is clever, insightful, fun, and fearless.

Very well written mysteries, but the undiluted Phryne is too strong a brew for my tastes

If you're coming to these books after seeing the TV series, you may be disappointed both in Phryne's character as written and by the somewhat repetitive and formulaic writing itself.
In these first three books, Phryne comes off not as an accomplished woman determined to live life to its fullest after surviving an impoverished childhood and service in the first world war, but as a sort of idle brat who drifts into detecting out of boredom and a lack of purpose. The mysteries themselves are fine beach reading, but Phryne herself is vaguely irritating. As with the True Blood series, I think Phryne Fisher (and the other characters) are actually better served by her adaptors than by her creator.
