Great fun to go back in time with them, but seriously, Deborah is only 20? She's just a kid! Yet she's a professional photographer and woman of the world.
Interesting to read the backstory of Deborah and Simons's relationship and to learn more about Tommy's family. George pulls together the various threads of the murders fairly well at the end. I was surprised to discover how different the novel is from the dramatization in the TV series.
"Als lezer dien je hier dus eigenlijk een beetje te vergeten wat je eerder al las, want de verschillende relaties zitten hier heel anders in elkaar dan we gewend zijn." https://elinevandm.wordpress.com/2019/03/08/mij-is-de-wrake-van-elizabeth-george/

I really enjoyed this story. I admit, I was a little confused with the timing and setting at first. It took me a little bit to realize this was actually a "prequel". The relationship between the characters was developed well and I loved the plot!

This one was a prequel - rehashing the Lynley angst that was referred to in the other mysteries. I missed Havers, though she did put in a cameo.

"She thought about how it was so simple with animals. They gave their hearts without question or fear, they had no expectations. They were so easy to love. If people could only be like that, no one would ever be hurt, she thought. No one would ever need to learn how to forgive." p446
