Genuinely one of the best books I have ever read. I loved the first book in the series, 'Illuminae', and wasn't sure if this second could live up. But, for me, it exceeded it!
The characters are nuanced and layered. I got attached. Real attached.
The writing is OUTSTANDING - not just the story, but the style and formatting. The twists and turns are insane. It's an emotional rollercoaster like no other.
The formatting and artwork is exceptional.
This book made me laugh, cry and fume with anger.
Definitely gonna read the third installment of the series. And anything else written by the authors.
All the characters will need all the therapy after the events of this book.

Wow, just wow! Illuminae blew my mind, this book took it even further. I love the design and typography. The whole book takes you on a journey that is not just words, but also very visual. I love it!
Not nearly as fun as the first book and need to decide if I’ll finish the series or not.

Gotta say, I love this story line more than [b:Illuminae|23395680|Illuminae (The Illuminae Files, #1)|Amie Kaufman|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1443433956s/23395680.jpg|26653661], not that the latter was bad, but in terms of action and tense scenes and scientific shit, this one was. So. Amazing!
I also liked the characters better, I feel like the relationships were developed better between the main characters and it made more of an impact on me when stuff happened.
Don't know what more to say, besides loving the invasion-psycho alien creature-futuristic science mix to death.
A solid 4.5/5 stars!
