It took me a while to read this book, but it wasn't because it was boring, I just was very occupied. Anyways, this sequel was great as the first book. It did not fail to surprise me. Again, as a reader I felt I knew what was happening, but then there was a plot twist, and it was just so awesome. I love astronomy myself, so it wasn't hard for me to understand some of the sciency stuff. But I do truly recommend this book for anyone to read.

I loved reading Illuminae and was concerned that Gemina would not live up to my expectations leading into it. However, Gemina has blown all of my preconceived notions out of the water. From character interactions, to backstory and motivation, to writing style and delivery of story to how it ties in with Illuminae, I'm blown away.

The ending has me dying for the 3rd novel (so far away!!!!!) and wanting more. The writing style of this series still impresses me. All of the different medias employed in this novel have a deliberate purpose and impress emotions into the reader more fully than in a typical narrative. It's a wonderful experience reading this series. Every ending has me asking more question that continue to go unanswered!

I await in eager anticipation for more.

I think if I would have read this in middle school or high school I would've enjoyed them so much more! The sci-fy story is INCREDIBLE. The dialogue not so much.

The entertaining, imaginative, mind-bending adventures started in Illuminae continue! This is definitely a series you need to read in order, because although we don’t see Kady, Ezra, and Aidan for most of this book, the setting, Heimdall, is the place their ship is headed and things are about to get real dangerous there.

Not only is there a squad of assassins from BeiTech on the station, taking people out and preparing to intercept the Hypatia and kill everyone aboard, eliminating all witnesses to their atrocities, but there are monsters who get you high, a secret agent on board, and multi-dimensional wormholes to contend with. This book kept me on my toes, constantly surprising me once again. And as with the first book, the art design really enhances the narrative as a whole, this time with added journal artwork.

As for our teenage main characters, what Hanna and Nik have most in common is a deep devotion to the people they love and a willingness to do anything and everything it takes to protect those people. Hanna’s past might seem cushy as the daughter of a commander, and she and her father were extremely close, but she has led a high pressure, driven life, with her dad teaching her fighting skills and war games since childhood. As for Nik, he might seem like a degenerate criminal (drug dealing, jail time, mob ties, etc), but he also cares deeply about his family. When you take these flirty frenemies together and throw in Nik’s little computer-wiz cousin, you’ve got a team that’s smart, strong, and willing to do whatever it takes to save everyone one they can. The pressure of everything they go through in those hours truly bonds Hanna and Nik to one another quickly in a way flirty winks and cute dimples and broken (I mean sprained) arms works have taken ages to accomplish.

I keep having to remind myself that these are case files being presented during a trial, which certainly frames what and why each document is being presented. I can’t wait to see what happens in the third book!
