I liked it, but I felt so lost that I went back to read the prequel novella.

This book has a lot of religious overtones and the author really tries to smash together Native American beliefs about spirits and the world with Christianity and it comes across as inauthentic and forced. On top of that it was very very slow some parts of reading it felt like pulling nails. I finished the first two books and wouldn’t read the rest in this series or the other.
It could have been that I didn’t love the audiobook, but I felt like not too much happened and too much was left unexplained.

It felt like I was dropped halfway into a book with no explanations. I was so lost the entire time thinking I’d accidentally started in the middle of a series or something.

Didn't like it as much as I liked Moon Called, but I'm hopeful that my love for this series will grow stronger like my love for the Mercy Thompson series has over time :)
