Yeah so I loved this

4.5 ⭐️ this was so good!!!! i love a fun thriller and julie soto killed it. i swear this woman can write bangers in every single genre? i didn’t want to put this book down, i was so captivated. when she marketed this as veronica mars vibes i knew i was going to love it and she 1000000% delivered! please let us have more stories in the world of the thrashers!

i honestly wasn’t sure where this was going at any given point. i kept switching back and forth between thinking emily was crazy and the thrashers were villains (my final opinion is that emily IS crazy + at least zack and paige ARE villains). i loved reading this through jodi’s POV and, like her, feeling pushed and pulled in so many different directions. the guessing game was so fun for me, but i can’t imagine it when it’s your LIFE.

julian hollister?! i’m so sorry yall i LOOOOVE him. that is one fine morally gray man and i am so here for it. i had such a switch up on feelings for him. i hated him so bad at the beginning but by 50% in i was locked in. that man deserves LOVE! and to surely nobody’s surprise, i am a julian+jodi endgame supporter. GIVE US THE HAPPY COUPLE! but yeah i loved that in reality julian cared so much for jodi and repeatedly did everything for her. he just wanted to protect her! free that man!

Okay this was so good! I kind of picked this up by just hearing like one or two reviews of it, but I definitely wasn’t disappointed. This was so addicting to read and interesting! I want to read more books like this.

I’m not sure what it is about YA thrillers but they’re truly my favorite. The Thrashers had me hooked and I basically read this entire thing in one sitting. Which is definitely saying something that considering i’ve been in a bit of a slump for months.

The premise of this book was great and the execution was so well done. I loved Jodi, the FMC in this. Don’t get me wrong, she was definitely a bit flawed but she was also so incredibly relatable. The insecurity she feels especially when thinking of her best friends. The way she made a point to say she was the one always instigating in their chats shows just how much their difference in economic classes weighted on her, even before the whole trial even began. I also adored Julian and their progression of their dynamic through this book. He went from her being such an annoyance to him to caring so much about her. I loved their scenes together and the small ways he would show up for her even when her other “best friends” didn’t. The other three; Paige, Lucy, and Zack, I liked enough but I didn’t really care when they were on the page versus not.

Zack was the typical “popular boy” who’s nice to everyone and I love how Jodi got to see who he truly was by the end of this book. She was finally able to remove the rose colored glasses she had on for this boy and i’m so glad she did because he did not deserve her. I actually ended up pretty much hating him by the end because of how selfish he was.

The plot of this, while predictable, was so well done. I had 2 theories as to what exactly happened and what was going on and they both revolved around her sister. I figured it was either A. Hannah set them up or B. this was going to be some PLL type of plot and it was actually Hannah that died and Emily was pretending to be her (unhinged, I know but you also never know with a thriller). Either way, I was able to guess what would happen but the reveal of it all made it so worth it still.

I loved the haunting ghost of Emily and going from a sweet girl to someone completely obsessed with the group and especially Jodi and how that was all slowly revealed. I also like how all of the characters had done something that was pretty messed up in the grand scheme, but to know she wasn’t actually planning to kill herself and instead did it for Jodi’s attention speaks a lot as to who Emily was.

Overall, loved this book and had so much fun with this. I stand by YA thrillers being the best and this one backs that up for sure. I’m going to round this down for Netgalley and Goodreads but I did rate it 4.5. Also, pretending that epilogue didn’t happen but also WHAT. I just need one extra chapter from Julian’s POV after that 😭

Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC in exchange for an honest review ◡̈

This was a vastly entertaining ya thriller. I really appreciated the portrayal of the complex and confusing relationships of a teenage friend group. While obviously exaggerated for the sake of the plot, whose high school life wasn't an overly dramatic amalgamation of intense and then standoffish feelings, messages, chats, pairings, fights, and makeups? This particular one just happened to include a death. The supernatural aspect of the book was fun, but not really necessary. The police work was a bit laughable at times as well. The story really accelerated towards the end, and while the main "reveal" wasn't exactly a shocker, a couple of the secrets were.  Would've been an actual 4, but at the end, one party was handed consequences while another wasn't, whom I believed should've received worse.

This was SO GOOD. The author writes tension so well, I was hooked immediately and it carried through the whole novel.

There was a supernatural element that was SO creepy, it was giving some final destination vibes sort of? Like this would make a fantastic movie.

And the END 😱😱😱😱. Stunning. The perfect thriller ending.

If you haven’t read any Julie Soto yet because maybe romance isn’t your thing, but you’re into thrillers, definitely pick this up!
