I’ve only read Julie Soto’s contemporary adult romance, so reading this (YA thriller) was such a departure from what I am used to from her. However, it was still an ode to Sacramento, which is fun as a Bay Area honey, and I was pleasantly surprised by how *thrilling* this was!

The journal entries, the amateur investigation, and the platonic dynamics were so fascinating to read about, and I definitely was enticed to keep turning the page. I think Julie Soto got teenage dynamics down so well, especially with a friend group like the Thrashers who are either all pining for or envious of each other. I absolutely felt the angst, jealousy, seething resentment, and insecurity from every “Thrasher”.

The ending was a juicy lil surprise, and I look forward to more YA thrillers from Julie Soto.

Is there nothing that Julie Soto can’t write??
Woah, I’m actually so impressed by this story. It took me some time to get into the first 25% of this story. But the rest of the 75%?? I’ve literally been listening to this audiobook all day. At the grocery store? Listening to this. At the dentist? Listening to this. Having a conversation with my roommate? Oops, I was still listening to this.
