The Thrashers absolutely delivered. This book had me hooked from the first page and didn’t let up for a second. The friend group dynamic was everything—messy, complicated, and full of secrets. No one is entirely innocent, and yet I found myself rooting for every single one of them while constantly second-guessing their motives.
The pacing is razor-sharp, keeping the tension high and the twists unpredictable. I tore through it in less than a day, and then couldn’t stop thinking about it for weeks. The love interest surprised me at first, but the development totally won me over. And the main character’s arc? Easily one of my favorite parts—watching them grow, fall apart, and rebuild was so satisfying.
If you love dark secrets, intense friendships, and unrelenting suspense, don’t read too much ahead—just dive in and let The Thrashers pull you under.

This book is so freaking good!!! Definitely hoping Julie Soto does more in the genre. She wrote the drama and suspense so well

I’m writing this review immediately after finishing The Thrashers but it’s because I want to talk about it while I’m still reeling from it. This is Julie Soto’s best book. And yes, I have read Rose in Chains already, this one is even better.
I love friendship books. I love codependent, slightly toxic, do-they-hate-or-do-they-love-eachother books even more. This is deliciously dark, it is suspenseful and gripping from start to finish. I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would upon discovering it was so different from Soto’s previous books. Give me a flawed and borderline unlikable character and watch me fall in love with them in .5 seconds, and this book gave me it *5.
I won’t go as far as say it will end up being on my favourites of all time list, but it’s high up on the best from the year so far, I loved it that much. I know this review is not helpful at all, but I honestly don’t think even if I took my time to write this review it would be any more coherent than this. Just know if you like gray characters(like the ones generally found in dark academia aka my favourite genre), cliques of popular kids that are codependent and the type of character that will make you mad but is also kinda endearing, this is THE PERFECT book for you.
I hope I at least conveyed my enthusiasm well enough to make you interested in trying it.

This is directed mostly towards more YA readers, but I think that adults will thoroughly enjoy this as well! Julie Soto has once again made another great read. I have loved her previous works and was so excited about this book. The Thrashers is a thriller with a bit of mystery and a lot of teenage drama. Not to mention really good unexpected twists and turns throughout. Can't wait to read more by Julie Soto!
