Eh this just wasn't for me.
dark mysterious tense fast-paced

This was a wild ride. I wasn’t expecting to be sucked into the story but I was. Great YA thriller with some paranormal elements. I did feel bad on how it ended especially with the epilogue.

I received an arc from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
fast-paced

Did I stay up until 5 am reading this? Why yes, yes I did. This is the kind of thriller that I want. Rooted in reality, with just enough paranormal activity to increase the sense of foreboding. It speaks so much truth to the complicated cliques and relationships of high schoolers and the lengths some people will go to in order to be ‘popular.’ There are so many lies and manipulations that ultimately no one is truly innocent.
And that epilogue? What did I just read?? I would happily read a sequel or a follow-up novella or something. I can’t even imagine a more fitting conclusion to this story.
This is the kind of story that would adapt to film very well. I could pretty much see how this movie would play out in my mind as I was reading. There are so many great cinematic opportunities.

good but I do not think justice was adequately served

(audiobook)

This definitely had a PLL vibe going on. I loved the ending of this book. The ending is the reason for the rating.
