Snow’s father the king died, leaving her under her step-mother’s power. When her step-mother refuses to be her Queen-Reagent and sends her head guard after her, Snow must flee the castle and the life she knew if she wants to stay alive.

An interesting Snow White retelling but I struggled to relate to the characters. They felt superficial and I couldn’t put my finger on what exactly was off. Looking at it technically it all appears to be there but it still felt like there was an extra layer between you and the characters.

It’s still a decent read.

It was cute and entertaining, but it had many boring parts.

To be fair, Snow White isn't my favorite fairy tale, and I didn't feel like there was enough of a change from the original story to make this retelling super interesting (I blame most of that on the original story being kind of boring). This book started fairly slow for me, and I did not enjoy her personality for the first half of the book at all. I would say it was worth reading, but hasn't been my favorite in the series.

Pleasantly surprised

I didn’t know if I would like this one. So I went in with lower expectations. Snow doesn’t start out the strong spitfire unlike the other heroins. I didn’t know if there would be a lot of growth or how. But grow she did. I liked the theme of fighting your inner critic and all of us are flawed. But I really liked seeing Snow’s growth.
