Man!!! Great book. By far the best in the great series so far. Caught in a firestorm, a crew including Anna have to pull their Shake N Bake fire tents (we also called them momma bags when I had my red card). During the fire, one firefighter is murdered in the perfect locked room mystery. The mystery holds until literally the last page.

An entertaining book in Barr's series about Park Ranger Anna Pigeon. This one is set in Lassen Volcanic National Park. The story was good and I learned a lot about battling wildfires- not that I'll (probably) ever need the knowledge. I've read another book in this series and I think I should start at the beginning; Anna is complex and her character develops from the experiences in each book.

I'm on the 8th Nevada Barr book and this is still my favorite. It DID give me nightmares, but probably only because my career actually means it's possible that I could end up in the terror of a wildland firestorm. For non-Land Management employees, it probably won't be quite as terrifying.
Mystery was good and had my puzzled for sure, and the ending was very satisfying.
Cons: I still give very few shits about Anna, and absolutely none for her romance with the FBI guy. And I'm a romantic!
Wish there could have been little more about Black Elk and Paula. I liked them despite myself.
Newt...won't spoil but how horrifying.
